The ongoing leadership crisis in the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Muritala Muhammed Airport Chapter, Ikeja has taken a new turn, with a court ruling validating Federal High Court Judgement, Appeal Court Judgement and DPP legal advice favoring Chairman Hon. Bola Asiru-Balogun. However, ”some disgruntled elements are allegedly refusing to accept the ruling, instead opting to disrupt peace efforts and make false claims to leadership”. According to reports, Prince Bamgbala Adewusi’s attempt to stop Asiru-Balogun via Ikeja High Court was struck out for lack of jurisdiction, echoing a previous ruling against Mr. Tope Akindele. This latest development has raised concerns about the tactics being employed by these individuals, who are accused of abusing court processes to further their interests. “We urge the new Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, to be aware of these tactics and take necessary action,” said a spokesperson for ANLCA. “ANLCA isn’t a government revenue-generating organ that can cause revenue losses as claimed even though it’s members help to facilitate revenue generation through their activities as licensed agents. ”We further appeal to the Inspector general of police to checkmate the activities of Tope Akindele, who we learnt being sponsored by the board of trustees chairman to destabilize the association in Lagos”. The group has also appealed to the IG to open the sealed secretariat, allowing the rightful occupants to access the premises, and to check the antics of these individuals from causing mayhem. “We are peace-loving individuals, but the government needs to intervene now,” the spokesperson added. The situation has sparked concerns about the stability of the association and the rule of law. As the crisis continues to unfold, stakeholders are calling for calm and adherence to due process.
