LAGOS, NIGERIA — Presidential hopeful and former Anambra Governor, Peter Obi, has issued a scathing assessment of Nigeria’s current trajectory, warning that the nation is being left behind in the global race for technological supremacy.

In a viral post on X (formerly Twitter) this Monday, Obi contrasted the morning routine of Indian citizens with that of Nigerians, highlighting a massive “vision gap” between the two nations.

Obi pointed to a message from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who spent his morning thanking citizens for making India a global leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

“Indians woke up to a tweet from their Prime Minister… thanking citizens for standing at the forefront of AI, a technology transforming every sector of their society,” Obi noted.

Despite Nigeria’s immense talent and natural resources, Obi argued that the country remains “mired in bad governance and greed.” He lamented that leadership in Nigeria is currently measured by “manipulation and personal gain” rather than service.

Obi concluded his remarks with a direct challenge to the Nigerian electorate, urging citizens to demand a “new standard” of leadership that prioritizes long-term development over short-term political “wins.”
