• Twist in the tale: Associate claimed “Health Issues,” but Police arrest one person for questioning • “We tried for him” — Viral video surfaces explaining singer’s last moments By Crime & Entertainment Desk ABEOKUTA — The mystery surrounding the sudden death of popular street-pop singer, Adesina Afeez (aka Destiny Boy), has taken a serious turn as the Ogun State Police Command confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with his passing. While the internet was initially told the 22-year-old singer died of a long-term illness, the police have now transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section, suggesting authorities are looking deeper into the circumstances. Confirming the development on Monday, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Babaseyi Oluseyi, stated that detectives have swung into action. “The Ogun State Police Command has since commenced investigations into the death of Adesina Afeez, aged 22 years, popularly known as Destiny Boy. One suspect is currently in custody while investigations are ongoing,” the PPRO revealed. The news of the young star’s death broke the internet on Sunday, sending shockwaves through the music industry. Heartbreaking videos circulated on social media showed the singer’s lifeless body in the back of a vehicle, with cotton wool in his nose and ears, as he was being conveyed to the mortuary. As speculation ran wild about the cause of death, a close associate of the singer released a video attempting to clear the air. The unnamed associate claimed Destiny Boy had been battling a private health challenge. “God, I want to do this video before people start saying rubbish about Destiny Boy’s cause of death… Destiny was nursing a health issue in his body before he died. We tried for him, but he didn’t make it,” the associate said in the viral clip. Destiny Boy was a unique voice in the Nigerian music scene. Starting his hustle at T2 Boys Studios in Agege, he cut his teeth as a backup dancer for Fuji legend Pasuma before finding his own lane. He blew up in 2019 with his viral Fuji cover of Davido’s hit song “If”, which endeared him to both street and pop fans. He went on to drop street bangers like Lamba, One Transaction, Gbese, and Billion Dollar. Tragically, the young star had just started building his family, having welcomed his first child with his partner, Iremide, in November 2024. The Police have promised to provide further updates as the investigation unfolds. Post navigation FAMILY DRAMA? Burial of Late Gospel Star ‘Omije Ojumi’ SUDDENLY Cancelled Due to Internal Issues!
