The Afrobeat scene is heating up, but this time it’s not about lyrics or awards—it’s about who truly owns the title of the “Bird.”

Afrobeat heavy hitter Seun Kuti has openly accused Grammy-winner Wizkid of swiping his nickname, sparking a fresh debate on the streets of social media.

The drama unfolded during a recent livestream hosted by the youngest son of Fela Kuti. Things got spicy when a member of Wizkid FC (Wizkid’s fanbase) slid into the comments section with a bold demand. The fan urged Seun to drop his nickname “Big Bird”, arguing that Wizkid already reigns supreme as the “Biggest Bird.”

Seun Kuti, known for never backing down from a fight, didn’t let that slide. He immediately fired back, setting the record straight on who claimed the avian title first.

Seun made it clear that he isn’t changing his brand for anyone. According to him, he has been answering to “Big Bird” long before the Starboy jumped on the trend.

In his words:

“Wizkid stole my name. Tell your fave to be original. Why are you telling me to change my name? Sorry, I can’t change it. This name has been here since. I am the first to come up with it. I am not dragging it with anybody, please.”

While Wizkid has popularized “Biggest Bird” in recent years, Seun insists his claim to the throne predates the Machala’s era. It looks like the Kuti dynasty isn’t ready to share this particular nickname.
