Barrister Lawal Akeem Ishola, popularly known as Oriyomi Oluyole and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Oluyole State Constituency, has commended Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe for facilitating the provision of underpasses and pedestrian bridges along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Ishola described the initiative as an important intervention towards improving pedestrian safety and reducing the risks faced by residents and commuters crossing the busy expressway. The project forms part of the rehabilitation, reconstruction and expansion works on Section II, Phase II, of the Lagos-Ibadan Dual Carriageway, covering the Sagamu-Ibadan axis across Ogun and Oyo states. Speaking with newsmen at the event, Ishola praised Akande-Sadipe, who represents Oluyole Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, for facilitating the project, noting that the provision of designated crossing points would help address safety concerns along the expressway. He said the initiative was particularly important to residents who regularly cross the road for their daily activities, adding that improved pedestrian infrastructure would contribute to safer movement and better access for communities around the corridor. The project, under Contract No. 8996, is being executed by APT Solutions Technologies, while the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI), under the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, is associated with the project presentation. Ishola noted that infrastructure development remained essential to improving the welfare of residents, urging public office holders to sustain efforts aimed at addressing the needs of their constituents. He also called on residents of Oluyole Federal and State constituencies to support the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing the view that continued support for the party would help attract further development and enable the people to benefit from government programmes. The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is a major transportation route connecting Lagos with Ogun and Oyo states and facilitating the movement of passengers, goods and services across the South-West. The provision of underpasses and pedestrian bridges forms part of wider efforts to improve road infrastructure and pedestrian safety along the corridor. Akande-Sadipe, who also serves as Chairperson of the House Committee on Humanitarian Services, represents Oluyole Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. The project is among the infrastructure initiatives associated with the Federal Government’s ongoing road development efforts under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
