There was excitement within the camp of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) successfully uploaded the governorship profile of the party’s candidate, Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarumi, on its Candidate Nomination Portal (ICNP). The development marks another major step in Gbolarumi’s journey towards the 2027 Oyo State governorship election, with the electoral body acknowledging the successful submission of his nomination profile. Speaking with the media team via WhatsApp, Taiwo Jimoh, the PDP candidate for Ibadan South-West State Constituency I in the Oyo State House of Assembly election and Personal Assistant to Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarumi, described the development as a significant milestone for the party. Jimoh said the successful upload had cleared the way for Gbolarumi’s candidacy, expressing confidence in the party’s preparations ahead of the election. “The road is now clear. Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarumi has been uploaded on the INEC portal. This is a major milestone, and we are focused on the journey ahead,” he said. A temporary acknowledgement generated on the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal indicated that Gbolarumi’s nomination profile was successfully submitted at 6:24 p.m. (WAT) on Monday, July 27, 2026. The acknowledgement, however, stated that it serves as a temporary confirmation of submission pending the completion of the nomination process in line with INEC guidelines. The development has triggered excitement among PDP members and supporters across the state, who described the upload of Gbolarumi’s profile as a major boost to the party’s preparations for the 2027 Oyo governorship election.
