Former First Lady of Oyo State and current Nigerian Ambassador to Austria, Her Excellency, Chief (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi, has called on the next generation of leaders to embrace the virtues of active listening and collective strength as they step into a new chapter of life. The Ambassador made this charge while serving as a special guest at the Valedictory Service and Graduation Ceremony of the Day Waterman College Class of 2026, held yesterday.

The ceremony, which resonated with the theme “The Power of Listening, The Strength of Unity,” served as a poignant reminder of the leadership qualities required to navigate the challenges of a modern, interconnected world. Addressing the graduating cohort, parents, and academic staff, the former Oyo State First Lady lauded the institution for its commitment to nurturing students who are not only academically proficient but also grounded in character and resilience.

”The theme of this year’s ceremony is a powerful reminder of the values that will define your future,” Ambassador Ajimobi stated. “In an era that demands meaningful collaboration, the ability to listen with intent and the strength found in standing united are the true hallmarks of effective leadership.”

Beyond her role as a diplomat, the ceremony held deep personal significance for the Ambassador, who attended as a proud grandmother to one of the graduands. The event highlighted the profound impact of parental support and institutional guidance in shaping well-rounded individuals. She took a moment to commend the school’s leadership and the parents of the Class of 2026, describing the students’ success as the rewarding fruit of years of sacrifice, love, and unwavering dedication.

The Ambassador extended heartfelt congratulations to her granddaughter, Toni, on the successful completion of her Year 11 studies, noting the pride she felt in watching the young girl develop into a graceful and determined individual. She also paid tribute to her daughter, Jumoke, and her husband, Soji, for reaching this significant parenting milestone through their consistent investment in their daughter’s growth.

The event concluded with an inspiring charge for the graduands to carry the spirit of excellence and community service into their future pursuits. As they prepare to transition into the next stage of their academic and professional journeys, Ambassador Ajimobi’s message remained a guiding principle: that the strength of the nation’s future depends on the ability of its emerging leaders to bridge divides and remain steadfast in the pursuit of the common good.
