In a desperate bid to salvage the political fortunes of the Accord Party in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections, a coalition of political aspirants has urgently sued for peace, warning against the infiltration of saboteurs bent on destroying the party’s current restructuring efforts.

The aspirants, who recently converged on the party’s state secretariat in Ibadan, openly expressed deep concerns over a brewing internal crisis. Speaking on behalf of the group, Folarin Olaniyi, a party stalwart from the Ibadan North Local Government Area, revealed that the unrest has caused severe anxiety among members, costing them sleep and peace of mind for the past week. He described the situation as a mere misunderstanding that must not be allowed to escalate, stressing that the hard work invested in the party by its loyalists must not end in a colossal loss.

Taking a firm stance against internal division, Olaniyi sent a strong warning to fifth columnists and impatient troublemakers who might want to capitalise on the rift to sing songs of destruction within the fold. He passionately appealed to the National, State, Local Government, and Ward Executives to protect the party from these elements and sustain the newfound peace. According to him, the Accord Party is currently expanding and experiencing stability, a critical momentum that must be maintained to deliver truthful leadership to the masses, civil servants, and market traders in 2027.

The group also used the medium to tender an unreserved apology to the party hierarchy and their frontline leader, Dr. Oriyomi Amzat. Noting that Dr. Amzat’s credibility was the primary magnet that drew immense love and massive followership to the Accord Party, the aspirants begged the leadership to overlook any perceived disrespect or overstepping of boundaries. They urged the state chairman and all executives to bind the party together closely to prevent external forces from hijacking the political platform.

Re-echoing the call for total reconciliation, Honourable Azeez Abiodun Adeyemi, a state assembly aspirant from Ibadan South East, reminded the leadership that the core essence of the Accord Party is rooted in oneness and progress. Adeyemi appealed directly to the party elders to temper justice with mercy and embrace the aspirants with the same hands of love that welcomed them initially. He noted that a united front is the only guarantee that the heavy political investments made by the members will yield democratic dividends for the people of Oyo State in the forthcoming electoral cycle.
