Placing party supremacy and internal cohesion above personal ambition, a frontline aspirant for the Ibadan North East constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Dr. Demilade Akin-Alabi, has formally conceded defeat following the conclusion of the party’s primary elections in Oyo State.

Dr. Akin-Alabi, fondly known as ‘Genio’, declared that as a true democrat and a good sportsman, he has chosen to accept the outcome of the shadow poll in good faith, despite noting that the electoral process was undeniably fraught with several irregularities.

In an official statement of withdrawal and appreciation addressed to leaders, stakeholders, and members of his political family, the DACOF group, Akin-Alabi explained that his definitive decision to step down and embrace the result was reached after deep and extensive consultations with his immediate family and campaign council.

Appealing for calm among his passionate supporters, the APC stalwart strongly urged his camp to respect and uphold his decision, stressing that sheathing their swords is an absolute necessity to foster party discipline, maintain peace, and secure internal unity ahead of the broader electoral battles.

Reflecting on his journey into the political terrain, Akin-Alabi described his participation as an invaluable experience that has deepened his understanding of grassroots politics. He expressed profound gratitude to the DACOF family, noting that he was deeply humbled by the immense financial and moral backing that enabled him, as a self-described greenhorn, to seamlessly obtain and submit his expression of interest and nomination forms in strict compliance with party guidelines.

The medical practitioner-turned-politician also moved to dispel any rumors of his political structure folding up, assuring his supporters that the DACOF group will remain fully operational. He described the current situation not as an end, but as a new chapter, promising that the group’s empowerment activities and developmental programmes will continue to run continuously to build capacity within the constituency.

Reiterating his complete loyalty and unalloyed dedication to the progressive fold, Akin-Alabi tasked his supporters to warmly embrace the eventual winner of the primary election once the national leadership officially ratifies the results. He maintained that pulling a united, formidable front is the only way the APC can guarantee a sweeping victory in the upcoming general elections in Ibadan North East and Oyo State at large.
