The founder of the One Love Family, Satguru Maharaj Ji, has set tongues wagging after making a bold declaration in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid. In a heated statement released in Ibadan, the spiritual leader described Tinubu’s presidency as the essential catalyst for Nigeria’s rise, urging the nation to embrace continuity. While celebrating the President’s 74th birthday, Maharaj Ji praised the “advanced global politics” of the current administration, pointing to the decentralization of power and the student loan scheme as proof that the country is on the right path.

The spiritual leader also jumped to the defense of Yoruba nation activist Sunday Igboho, warning the Department of State Services (DSS) and other critics to back off. Maharaj Ji insisted that Igboho is not an inciter but a brave defender of his people who rose up when communities were facing “deadly and murderous attacks” by herdsmen. He maintained that calls for the activist’s arrest are misplaced and expressed total confidence that President Tinubu, acting as a “true father,” would protect Igboho from “opposition shylocks” looking to intimidate him.

The mood turned even sharper as Maharaj Ji dragged the 2023 presidential candidates of the PDP and Labour Party, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi. He accused the two political heavyweights of trying to destroy the “power shift” arrangement that maintains balance in Nigeria just to satisfy their own ambitions. He didn’t mince words, describing Peter Obi as a “wolf in sheep’s skin” for following Atiku’s lead in a bid to break the rotational rule that has guided the country’s democratic process.

In a final, controversial twist, Maharaj Ji issued a stern warning to state governors, telling them that their loyalty must lie with the President’s 2027 goal. He declared that any governor who fails to support Tinubu’s mission to make Nigeria great again is heartless and unpatriotic, suggesting they should retire from politics immediately. He called on the youth to ignore “negative information wars” and stand firmly behind the President to ensure the country’s progress is not interrupted.
