The ongoing cold war between Nollywood heavyweights Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham has taken a dramatic turn as veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, broke his silence to deliver a scathing reality check to the warring divas. In an industry currently gripped by the fallout from a viral snub at a recent movie premiere, Ogogo did not mince words, labeling the dispute as “more complicated than war” and urging the actresses to appreciate their divine blessings instead of wallowing in professional jealousy. Speaking on the tension that has split Nollywood fans into opposing camps, the veteran actor expressed profound disappointment that two of the industry’s most successful women remain at loggerheads. Ogogo stated that if they possess any sense, they should understand that God has favoured them and choose joy over conflict. He further noted that while men usually settle disputes through dialogue, conflicts between women in the industry often escalate into territory he described as “Hitler’s war,” a situation he believes wise men should avoid. The latest flare-up began at the movie premiere of Iyabo Ojo, where a viral clip captured Funke Akindele appearing to ignore Toyin Abraham’s greetings while seated with Mercy Aigbe and the host. The public embarrassment prompted a fiery response from Abraham, who reportedly vowed never to greet Akindele again, stating she would be a “bastard” if she ever did so. The actress has since unfollowed Akindele on social media, a move that Akindele seemingly acknowledged by “liking” a blog post detailing the pledge. The rift has sent shockwaves through the Nigerian entertainment circle, drawing varied responses from colleagues. Veteran actress Fausat Balogun, known as Madam Saje, claimed to have already stepped in to resolve the issue, stating she called both parties to demand they remove the drama from social media. Conversely, Iyabo Ojo addressed the public by revealing she had previously mediated between the two but signaled she would no longer get involved in the “unprintable” name-calling and tension. Socialite Bobrisky urged the public to stay neutral, citing the industry’s “fake love” as the reason he keeps his distance from celebrity gatherings. Meanwhile, media personality Do2dtun admonished colleagues to identify their enemies and friends before leaving home to avoid such public embarrassments. As the tension remains high, the industry waits to see if these high-profile figures will heed Ogogo’s advice and return to their senses.
