The Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has intercepted a real estate nightmare. Operatives have arrested one Ifeanyi Mba for allegedly swindling an unsuspecting buyer out of ₦10 million for a piece of land that apparently doesn’t even exist on the official map. The arrest, confirmed on Monday, March 9, 2026, highlights the growing “land-grabbing” and title fraud crisis currently rocking the Southeast. The victim’s ordeal began after paying Mba ₦10 million for a plot supposedly located at “Plot 677 Owo/Premier Layout” in the Ogui Nike community. The red flags went up when the buyer visited the site only to find “unknown persons” already developing the property. When confronted, Mba reportedly gave the ultimate brush-off: he claimed the land was actually “government-owned” and then promptly went incommunicado, leaving the petitioner with an empty pocket and no property. This arrest is just the latest victory for the Enugu Zonal Directorate, which has been on a winning streak this year The EFCC has stated that Ifeanyi Mba will face his day in court as soon as investigations are wrapped up.
