The Kano State Police Command has launched a high-stakes crackdown on digital misinformation, arresting a key suspect accused of distributing inflammatory audio and video clips designed to trigger mass panic and public disorder.

In a swift response to rising tensions, Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori confirmed on Thursday that the suspect was apprehended during a coordinated sting operation. The individual is currently undergoing intense interrogation to uncover the source and motives behind the content.

The Command has sent a blistering warning to creators of “fake news” and hate speech, emphasizing that the digital space is not a shield for criminality.

โ€œThe Command views these inflammatory statements seriously. The suspect will face the full weight of the law once investigations are concluded,โ€ the official police statement read.

Despite the “fear-mongering” clips circulating on social media, Commissioner Bakori assured residents that there is no cause for alarm. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and use the official emergency numbers to report suspicious activity rather than sharing unverified content.
