ABEOKUTA — Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has officially reacted to the seismic shift in the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force, following President Bola Tinubu’s acceptance of the resignation of Inspector-General Kayode Egbetokun.

In a high-profile transition that sees one “Ogun Son” hand over the baton of national security, the Governor expressed immense pride in the outgoing IGP while setting a high-stakes agenda for the newly appointed Acting IGP, Tunji Disu.

Governor Abiodun was glowing in his praise for Egbetokun, describing his tenure as a masterclass in professionalism and dedication.

“Kayode Egbetokun is a proud son of Ogun State whose decades of commitment to strengthening internal security remain a source of pride to all Nigerians,” the Governor stated in a personally signed message.

Turning his attention to the future, the Governor congratulated the incoming Acting IGP, Tunji Disu, noting that his appointment comes at a “critical time” in Nigeria’s security landscape.

The transition highlights the prominent role of Ogun State indigenes in the nation’s security architecture. With Egbetokun’s exit, the Governor’s swift endorsement of Disu signals a desire for continuity and a seamless handover to ensure no vacuum is left in the fight against crime.
