In a significant move to uphold religious sanctity, the Kano State Government has officially mandated the immediate closure of all event centres and entertainment venues across the state. The directive, which takes effect tonight, is designed to ensure a “calm and respectful environment” for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan. The order, issued by the Kano State Censorship Board, targets specific sectors of the entertainment industry to minimize distractions during the fasting period. The Public Relations Officer of the Board, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, emphasized that this isn’t just a suggestion. The state is taking a proactive stance on moral and social order: ”Enforcement teams will be deployed across the state to ensure adherence to the order. The decision falls within the board’s responsibility to regulate activities and promote social order during religious seasons.” The government has called on business owners and the general public to cooperate with the directive to ensure a successful and peaceful observance of the fast.
