The Oyo State Government has commenced the prosecution of 13 persons for allegedly damaging road kerbs and infrastructure in Ibadan, the state capital. The suspects were arrested on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, during an enforcement operation led by the Chairperson of the Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA), Hon. Justice Aderonke Aderemi (retd.). The defendants—Farinde Lawal, Akanji Kazeem, Abidemi Isiaq, and 10 others—were arraigned before the Chief Magistrate Court, Iwo Road, on Wednesday, January 21, on charges of conspiracy and willful damage. The prosecution alleged that the suspects maliciously destroyed newly constructed road kerbs at Odejayi Area (Old Ife Road) and New Gbagi Area in Ibadan. The state maintained that the offences are contrary to and punishable under Sections 516 and 451 of the Criminal Code, Cap 35, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State, 2000. Upon their “not guilty” plea, the presiding Magistrate granted the defendants bail under stringent conditions. Each defendant is required to provide two sureties, including: A blood relation. A government worker with a minimum bank balance of ₦200,000. A valid two-year tax clearance certificate. Proof of land ownership within the court’s jurisdiction. Speaking on the development, OYRLEA reaffirmed its stance on protecting public assets. The authority warned that any individual found sabotaging government infrastructure would face the full wrath of the law. The court has adjourned the matter till February 13, 2026, for further mention. #OyoState #Ibadan #Vandalism #OYRLEA #Infrastructure #LawAndOrder #BreakingNews #OyoNews Post navigation No More “Inferiority Complex”: FG Set To Turn Polytechnics Into Degree Varsities Tourism: Oyo targets global attention, partners NANTA to host 500 agents
