The Lagos State Government has expressed condolences to renowned author Chimamanda Adichie and her family following the death of her son, Nkanu, on January 6. Dr. Kemi Ogunyemi, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, described the loss as deeply painful and emphasized the government’s commitment to justice. She announced that an investigation is underway by the Health Facility Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA) into the circumstances surrounding Nkanu’s death, which occurred at a private healthcare facility.



Ogunyemi stated that patient safety is a top priority, and the investigation will assess compliance with clinical protocols and professional conduct. Findings will be made public to ensure transparency. The family, devastated by their loss, has requested privacy during this difficult time.
