Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has announced the involvement of the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN), also known as Amotekun, to enhance the safety of staff and students at Abiola Ajimobi Technical University in Ibadan.
Speaking at the university’s 2024/2025 convocation ceremonies, where he was represented by Deputy Governor Adebayo Lawal, Makinde recognized the significant challenges the university faces, particularly regarding funding and infrastructure. He highlighted ongoing security measures, including new perimeter fencing and the establishment of an Amotekun security base at the campus entrance.
Makinde stated, “We are committed to ensuring a safe learning environment. Abiola Ajimobi Technical University is a pride of the Oyo State government, and we will continue to strengthen it through initiatives such as the ALGON Scholarship Programme and the rehabilitation of internal roads.”
