The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, swore in Prof. Rahmon Tella as the new Resident Electoral Commissioner for Oyo State on Tuesday at the commission’s headquarters. This appointment is part of INEC’s efforts to enhance electoral administration nationwide.
Amupitan emphasized the significance of the oath-taking, stating that it represents a serious commitment to duty and integrity. He stressed the importance of upholding electoral integrity, declaring it non-negotiable, and warned against any compromises on values or procedures.
He urged Tella to ensure voters in Oyo State have full confidence that their ballots will count, aiming for him to be a “beacon of hope and democratic values.”
Tella, who is the Deputy Dean at Atiba University, expressed his gratitude for the chairman’s guidance and committed to aligning his work with the commission’s vision. His term is set to end in September 2025, as recorded by INEC.
