The Civil Society Coalition for Human Equity Initiative (CSCHEI), a United Nations-recognised platform for accredited Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) in Nigeria, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for directing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to unfreeze the Osun State Government account. The coalition described the President’s intervention as a demonstration of responsive leadership and respect for the rule of law, saying the directive underscores the administration’s commitment to justice without political interference. In a statement signed by its Director General, Kunle Yusuff, FINCSD, MON, CSCHEI acknowledged the constitutional responsibilities of the EFCC, stressing that the anti-graft agency must continue to investigate suspicious financial transactions in line with the law while ensuring that due process is strictly observed. According to the organisation, accounts found to be suspicious should remain subject to lawful investigation and be answerable to the appropriate authorities, but such actions must never be influenced by partisan considerations. CSCHEI further disclosed that some of its accredited members have been working closely with the EFCC through advocacy and public enlightenment campaigns aimed at strengthening the fight against corruption and promoting transparency in public institutions. The coalition reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Federal Government and all relevant anti-corruption agencies in the collective effort to eliminate corruption across the country through lawful and democratic means. It added that recent developments have reinforced its belief that Nigeria has “a listening President,” expressing appreciation to Tinubu for what it described as his operational and administrative directive to unfreeze the Osun State Government account. “Every indicator has proven that Nigeria has a listening President, and we appreciate him for ensuring that this matter was resolved without political interference,” the statement said.
