Hazeem Gbolarumi Marks Father’s 50th Posthumous Birthday Anniversary, Celebrates Enduring Legacy

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarumi, has paid glowing tribute to his late father, Alhaji Abdulazeez Bolatito Olaoye Akanji Gbolarumi (Olugbesan), as the family commemorated his 50th posthumous birthday anniversary.

In a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday, Gbolarumi described his late father as a man of exceptional integrity, humility and unwavering faith, whose enduring legacy continues to inspire generations.

According to him, the late patriarch devoted his life to the service of humanity, family and community, leaving behind enduring values that remain evident in the lives of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

“We miss you every day, and we continue to see so much of your beautiful spirit in our family. Today, we honour and celebrate an incredible father, grandfather and great-grandfather whose love, wisdom and sacrifices laid a solid foundation for generations after him,” the statement read.

The former deputy governor said the anniversary offered the family another opportunity to reflect on the virtues that defined the late Abdulazeez Gbolarumi’s life, noting that his commitment to discipline, honesty, compassion and godliness remained worthy of emulation.

The family also recalled the late patriarch by his traditional praise names, “Olumini, Ọmọ Sẹ́kẹ́ Onídè, Afáwọ̀ dá’ká ń gbóná,” saying his memory continues to occupy a special place in the hearts of family members, friends and associates.

They prayed for the repose of his soul, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, illuminate his grave and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus.

“May Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, forgive his shortcomings, illuminate his grave and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus. Ameen,” the statement added.

Gbolarumi noted that although five decades had passed since his father’s demise, the values he stood for had remained the guiding principles of the family.

He said the late patriarch taught his children that true leadership is rooted in integrity, humility, hard work and selfless service to others, adding that those ideals continue to shape their lives.

The PDP governorship candidate urged friends, associates and well-wishers to remember his late father in their prayers while celebrating a life devoted to faith, family and humanity.

He added that the family would continue to uphold the principles for which the late Abdulazeez Gbolarumi was known, describing his life as a lasting legacy that transcends generations.
