Supporters of the governorship ambition of Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli have dismissed speculations surrounding the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Oyo State, insisting that the party’s choice cannot be reduced to sentiment or political symbolism. Reacting to ongoing discussions over the APC governorship race ahead of the 2027 election, the group argued that leadership, credibility, grassroots acceptance and the confidence of party members remain the key factors that determine who emerges as the party’s standard bearer. The supporters maintained that while every aspirant has the constitutional right to seek the party’s ticket, purchasing the APC governorship nomination form does not automatically translate into securing the nomination. According to them, politics is fundamentally about people and structures, stressing that electoral victory is built on a strong grassroots network across the state’s 33 local government areas rather than financial strength alone. They expressed confidence that Senator Sharafadeen Alli remains the recognised governorship candidate of the APC in Oyo State, urging party faithful to disregard what they described as unverified claims capable of creating unnecessary confusion within the party. The group further stated that the party’s leadership at both the national and state levels had made its position clear, insisting that Alli enjoys the confidence of the APC and remains well-positioned to lead the party into the 2027 governorship election. While acknowledging that other aspirants would naturally continue to pursue their ambitions and mobilise support, the supporters noted that democracy allows every interested member to aspire to elective office. However, they maintained that expectations of a sudden reversal of the party’s position remain speculative. They therefore appealed to APC members and stakeholders across Oyo State to close ranks behind Senator Alli, saying unity and loyalty would be crucial to the party’s chances of reclaiming power in the state in 2027. Expressing optimism about the party’s electoral prospects, the supporters declared that with a united front and sustained grassroots mobilisation, the APC would secure victory at the governorship poll, while Senator Sharafadeen Alli would emerge as the next Governor of Oyo State.
