A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State and former governorship aspirant, Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem, popularly known as AKK, has described President Bola Tinubu’s approval of over ₦1.137 trillion for the construction, dualisation and rehabilitation of eight strategic road networks across the state as a game-changer for Oyo State’s economy. AKK, in a statement made available on Monday, said the scale of the intervention was unprecedented, noting that it went far beyond an ordinary palliative to represent a multi-trillion-naira structural overhaul capable of altering the economic geography of the state for generations. He listed some of the affected corridors to include the dualisation of the Ilorin-Ogbomoso road, the reconstruction of the Iseyin-Eruwa-Agbesi link, and the Igbeti-Soro-Kishi networks, describing them as monumental lifelines for communities long starved of good roads. The APC chieftain said the intervention was proof that Oyo State occupied a strategic and cherished position within the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that the roads would connect agrarian communities to neighbouring Osun and Kwara states, cut down post-harvest losses, boost inter-state trade, and create jobs for artisans, engineers and market traders across the state.AKK further noted that the durability of the proposed construction methods demonstrated a deliberate, long-term vision, explaining that the President was not merely fixing potholes but laying a foundation that would serve the next generation of students, farmers and traders for decades to come. He tied the federal intervention to the developmental blueprint championed by the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, whom he said has consistently canvassed for stronger synergy between the state and federal governments as a pathway to industrialisation. AKK called on host communities to cooperate fully with contractors and protect the infrastructure once construction commences, urging Oyo State residents to remain aligned with what he described as a progressive vision steering the state toward a “Realistic Tomorrow.” Post navigation FCT Land Tussle: Demolitions Proceed at River Park Estate Despite AGF’s Intervention Delesolu family announces death of patriarch, Oloye Raufu Yesufu ‘Baba Rere’
