The Ogun State Police Command has officially dispelled swirling rumors of a bandit invasion in the state, clarifying that the recent deadly security incident at a private dredging site in Magbon Etido, Mowe, was an isolated criminal attack rather than an operation by bandits.

The violent incident regrettably claimed the life of a soldier who was on security duty at the site, while another military personnel sustained injuries. The injured soldier was immediately rushed to a medical facility and is currently receiving treatment.

Following the attack, a combined team of Police operatives and military personnel swiftly mobilized to the area. Coordinated security operations were launched immediately to track down and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the assault.

Preliminary findings by the command show no links between the perpetrators and banditry networks. Investigators are treating the case as a localized criminal raid, and intensive tactical operations are still actively ongoing in the axis.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, assured the public that the situation has been brought firmly under control. Security presence has been heavily reinforced across Mowe and its environs, and the Command has urged residents to go about their daily activities without fear, emphasizing that there is absolutely no cause for alarm.
