The race for the Ibadan North East I State House of Assembly seat has gained significant traction as a leading aspirant, Hon. Demilade Akin-Alabi, popularly known as DACOF, intensified his political consultations with top hierarchy and grassroots leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State.

In a series of strategic diplomatic moves aimed at consolidating his base, Hon. Akin-Alabi held high-level discussions with the Ibadan North East APC Party Chairman, Hon. Elewure, alongside the Oyo South Senatorial District Chairman. The sessions focused on aligning political objectives and reinforcing the party’s structure ahead of forthcoming electoral activities.

During the interface, the party leadership expressed robust confidence in Akin-Alabi’s candidacy, describing him as a bridge-builder with the necessary credibility to provide effective representation. The leaders particularly noted the enduring legacy of service associated with his family, specifically referencing his mother, Dr. Bisi Akin-Alabi, a former Special Adviser on Education to the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

The DACOF movement further signaled its readiness for the contest with a high-profile visit to the Oyo State APC Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan. The delegation, which included the Director General of the campaign, Amb. Babatunde Michael, and other prominent figures like Professor Okoro Onyeckachi and Prophetess Adeyemi Helen, was warmly received by the state executive.

The state leadership acknowledged the growing unity within the party and the importance of inclusive grassroots mobilization, which they noted has become a hallmark of the Akin-Alabi campaign. Observers say the increasing endorsement from key youth and women leaders, including Hon. Olowe, the APC Youth Leader for Oyo South, indicates a shifting tide in favor of the aspirant.

As the movement continues to build strong alliances across the senatorial district, political analysts suggest that Akin-Alabi’s strategy of wide-scale collaboration and people-oriented engagement is positioning him as a formidable contender for the party’s ticket. With the backing of seasoned stakeholders and a visible presence at the local government level, the DACOF campaign appears set on a trajectory of renewed strength and collective purpose within the Oyo APC.
