The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has officially resigned his position from the Federal Executive Council, declaring that his exit is aimed solely at contesting the 2027 gubernatorial election in Oyo State.

Adelabu, who disclosed this while addressing party stakeholders, maintained that his decision to quit President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet was a calculated sacrifice to fulfill his long-standing vision for the state.

He noted that his primary objective is to seek the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and lead the party to victory in the next general elections.

“The singular reason for my resignation is to come back and plead for the opportunity to represent our party as the gubernatorial candidate in the 2027 general elections. That is the only reason why I resigned,” Adelabu stated.

The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) emphasized that he is not a stranger to taking political risks, adding that his resolve is fueled by a desire to ensure Oyo State regains its “Pacesetter” status.

According to him, his administration would prioritize infrastructure development, security, and the economic prosperity of the people.

“This is what I have prepared for in the last 12 years since 2014, 2015, before my election in 2019 and my election in 2023. Once we resume, we are going to hit the ground running,” he added.

Adelabu expressed confidence in the leadership of the APC and the electorate in Oyo State, noting that his plan to serve humanity is backed by years of preparation and a deep-seated resolve to transform the state’s physical and social infrastructure.
