Oyo 2027: AKK accepts ₦50m guber form fee, says ₦1bn spent on APC grassroots is sacrifice

A leading gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Adewale Kolapo Kareem (AKK), has affirmed his readiness to purchase the party’s nomination form despite the ₦50 million price tag, describing his political journey as a mission to rescue the state.

Speaking during an interview on Parrot Extra on Radio via Splash 105.5 FM on Tuesday, the educator and philanthropist admitted that while the high cost of the form is a significant barrier for many, it would not deter his ambition to govern Oyo State.

Dr Kareem also used the medium to address the reported ₦1 billion he has invested in the party’s structures across the 33 local government areas since 2024. He clarified that the funds were not spent as a business investment but as a “sacrifice” to empower the people and strengthen the party’s foundation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The ₦50 million form is expensive, but I will purchase it because I am determined to be the governor of Oyo State,” Kareem stated. “The money spent on our grassroots members—through interest-free loans and community support—is a sacrifice I am happy to make. We must ensure the future is not surrendered to those who govern without a conscience.”

AKK urged the party leadership to reward such dedication by ensuring the upcoming primaries are free, fair, and transparent. He emphasized that only a credible internal process can produce a flagbearer capable of unseating the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the next election cycle.
