Gistlife can authoritatively report that the high-stakes rescue operation at the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) is yielding results!

Security operatives have successfully rescued two out of the four cocoa farmers who were snatched by gunmen at Idi Ayunre, in the Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The drama started when representatives of the Cocoa Farmers Association of Nigeria (Ogun State chapter) arrived at the CRIN nursery site. They were there to drop off their cocoa seedlings for the 2026 planting season when unidentified armed men pounced, whisking four of them away into the bush.

The Oyo State Police Command didn’t waste a second. Speaking on the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed that a heavy-duty security team—including the Police, NSCDC, local vigilantes, and the Amotekun Corps—stormed the area for a massive manhunt.

The heat was too much for the criminals! Gistlife gathered that the coordinated pursuit led to:

  • Two male victims being snatched back from the kidnappers’ grip.
  • Three suspects being arrested and hauled into police custody.

While the rescue of two farmers is a major win, the mission isn’t over yet. Security forces are currently deep in the forest, engaging in “aggressive bush-combing” to bring the remaining victims home.

The Police Command is urging everyone in the Ibadan area to stay calm but vigilant. If you see something, say something—let’s help our security teams flush these criminals out of Oyo State for good!
