IBADAN — A self-confessed hired assassin, popularly known as “Shawarma,” has sent shockwaves across Nigeria after a viral video surfaced where he admitted to killing 32 people in Ibadan and declared his support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 reelection bid. In the chilling footage, the serial killer claimed that rather than being prosecuted, security agencies praised and released him for his “work” in the Oyo State capital. When questioned in the video about his body count, the assassin was blunt: “When they wanted to misbehave in Ibadan, I killed 32.” The Oyo State Police Command has moved swiftly to distance itself from the assassin’s claims. In a statement released Tuesday, Police Spokesperson DSP Ayanlade Olayinka revealed that the command has no record of Shawarma ever being arrested or processed. ”The command has launched a thorough investigation… leveraging advanced technology, including digital forensics and digital footprint analysis,” Olayinka stated. The police are now calling on the public to provide any information that could lead to the identification and arrest of “Shawarma” and his accomplices to verify the authenticity of the “confessional” video.
