The “high life” has just come crashing down for a prominent political figure in Lagos! In a sting operation that has sent shockwaves through the Ibeju-Lekki corridor, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended a former two-term councilor turned legislative aide for allegedly running a secret drug hub. From high-ranking politicians to baby diapers stuffed with pills, the NDLEA’s latest nationwide sweep reads like a Hollywood crime thriller! Sheleru Sadiq Olalekan, 45, who once sat in the hallowed chambers of the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Council representing the Orimedu community, was arrested at his Ilado residence. While he was expected to be making laws, NDLEA operatives say he was busy storing 40 kilograms of “Skunk” (a potent strain of cannabis) in his room. Olalekan reportedly admitted that both the house and the mountain of drugs belonged to him. Talk about a “legislative aid” no one asked for! The drama didn’t stop in Lagos. In the Federal Capital Territory, Emeka Hyginus Okwor, a 32-year-old businessman, thought he was being clever by hiding 1,000 pills of Tapentadol inside baby diapers! He was caught en route to Niger State, proving that the NDLEA can see through even the “cleanest” disguises. Meanwhile, in Kogi State, a Cameroonian national, Mey Ali Muhamat, tried to smuggle “Colorado” (synthetic cannabis) inside a standing fan carton. He was planning a massive road trip from Lagos all the way to Cameroon, but his “fan” stopped blowing before he could leave the state! In perhaps the most chilling discovery of the week, operatives on the Mokwa–Jebba road intercepted a commercial bus from Ibadan carrying 500 pieces of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) components hidden in a sack. A follow-up operation led to the arrest of the 21-year-old recipient, Osama Abdullahi, in Niger State. This massive bust potentially saved countless lives and stopped a disaster before it could start. NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), hailed the officers for their “balanced approach,” making it clear that whether you are a politician, a businessman, or a cross-border traveler, the law will catch up with you Post navigation IBADAN TRANSFORMATION: Commuters Applaud Makinde as Orderliness Returns to the ‘Brown Roof City’- NIFEMI PETERS One Dead, Six Critical as “Danfo” Somersaults Into Culvert on Oworo-Apapa Expressway!
