By Nifemi Peters The 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, has successfully secured the removal of the name of Yoruba self-determination activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, from the wanted list of the Federal Government. The development follows a high-powered diplomatic intervention by the first-class monarch during a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. In a statement released on Monday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan, Chief Ayoade Solomon Olugbemiga, it was confirmed that the activist is now free to move without the “fear of intimidation and harassment” by security agencies. According to the palace, the Olubadan used the opportunity of his visit to Aso Rock to thank President Tinubu for his presence at his historic coronation. The monarch also pushed for the creation of Ibadan State and the total eradication of insecurity to pave the way for developmental projects in Oyo State. Speaking on the President’s gesture, Oba Ladoja noted that Tinubu is “fully determined to lead Nigeria to the promised land” and urged Nigerians to rally round the administration to ensure the success of its policies. In a move that sparked excitement among his supporters, Sunday Igboho paid a “thank you” visit to the Olubadan at his residence on Ondo Street, Bodija, following his “triumphant entry” into the city. Recounting how he heard the news, Igboho told journalists: ”My father, Baba Ladoja, called me on the phone last Friday to tell me that he has secured my freedom and that I could come home. I am grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his magnanimity in removing my name from the wanted list.” Igboho, who arrived with a large entourage, also expressed deep appreciation to traditional rulers across Yorubaland for their unwavering support during his period of legal and political travails. The Olubadan, while receiving the activist, reaffirmed his earlier promise to dedicate the remainder of his life to the service of God and humanity. He maintained that the President’s decision to clear Igboho is a testament to the administration’s commitment to justice and national peace. Observers believe this development will significantly de-escalate tensions in the South-West, as Igboho had been on the radar of security forces since the 2021 raid on his Soka residence by the Department of State Services (DSS).
